Can different locks in my home use one new key?+
That requires compatible cylinders and keyways, the profiles that accept the key. Kwikset and Schlage describe different compatibility limits for their cited rekeyable products. Have each existing lock identified before assuming that matching the keys means retaining every cylinder.
Does rekeying also repair a loose handle or a door that sticks?+
Keep those complaints separate in the assessment. Rekeying changes the key arrangement; the proposal still needs to identify any handle, latch or door-alignment repair. Ask which hardware is retained and why any replacement is proposed.
What should I specify when several entrances need work?+
List the entries and which ones are intended to share a key, then ask the provider to confirm compatibility. Include the number of new keys and identify any lock excluded from the visit. This is more precise than requesting a whole-house rekey without an entry list.
What belongs in the handover record?+
Request a list of the cylinders worked on, the agreed key arrangement and the checks completed at each selected entry. Record unresolved operation problems separately. Keep that record with the invoice so later work can be matched to the correct doors.
